Who Needs Marriage Counseling When You Have Comedy Videos?

April 30, 2008 – 5:42 pm

My girlfriend and I are at that proverbial fork in the road in our relationship where the next logical step would be to either tie the knot and get married, or to shake hands and call it a “good game”. My friends keep asking annoying questions like (insert annoying friend voice of your choice here) “Well how do you feel about her?” “Do you love her?” and the classic “Can you picture yourselves together forever?” All important questions, according to my therapist. I however am a 30 year old dude. I’m not a man, I’m a dude, with the emotional maturity level of a blueberry pancake. I’m not sure what that means, but you get the idea. Important questions to me are “When can we play Guitar Hero 3?” and “Where are the Big Macs?”

So after giving up on the advice of caring friends and several professionals, I’ve turned to the only people I can trust: Stand up comedians. If you’re like me and you’re contemplating taking that next big step, watch these videos before making any responsible, rational, or adult decisions.

Patton Oswalt

I had the pleasure of seeing this performance live. I drove 8 hours to discover this “secret”.

And of course let’s not forget how 50% of marriages turn out.

Stephen Lynch

So after carefully considering these videos and glancing briefly into my own thoughts and feelings on the matter, I’ve reached something that bears a vague resemblance to a decision. But first thing’s first, I’m off to play Guitar Hero 3 and eat some Big Macs. Let’s get our priorities straight people!

New Features, New Tips!

April 25, 2008 – 8:20 am

Hey Tubers!

Have you started creating your own Tube yet? We just love some of the great Tubes that are being built - there seems to be a little Tuber in all of us after all!

We’ve released a bunch of new features that we wanted to highlight so take a little look. When personalizing your Tube, you can now take advantage of even more great ways to make it your very own:

1 - Change the entire background color or add a background image.

2 - Change the font color of the text content

3 - Add a footer

4 - Search engine description - write out information about your Tube so that when it appears in search results, people understand what your Tube is about. **TIP: write something using keywords about your Tube and make it exciting enough so people will click on it to visit your Tube.

5 - Owner management - When you Start Your Tube it’s your very own! That means you own it so you can sell it! We don’t get involved between you and the person you’re making a transaction with but we have provided you with a tool to help you with the exchange. In your admin panel, you can now change the Tube’s owner by changing the account email address from yours to the Tube’s buyer!

6 - Better quality videos - We’ve optimized video conversion for you so it’s faster to load and plays in better quality. Here are a couple of suggestions we encourage you to follow when exporting your video (before you upload it to your Tube) so that you can take advantage of the highest quality yet!

Export it as a video JPEG | Use 320*240 Dimensions | Use 30FPS (frames per second) | and your file size can’t exceed 100Mb.

We encourage you to use these settings for your video source file : Format : JPEG, millions Dimension : 320*240 Frame rate : 30FPS Size : must not exceed 100 Mo
Now, before we go, we also wanted to give you some of idea of the first 5 things you should do when you start your Tube. We’ve put a list into a video tutorial at the following link: http://jeanphy-gousse.startyourtube.com/video-education-37852-5_things_to_do

1991: The Year of Embarrassing Music Videos for 3 of Today’s Stars

April 3, 2008 – 12:25 pm

embarrassingmusic videosWe’ve all seen “Before They Were Stars” clips before, but there’s definite fun in early career clips too. Indeed, an artist with a base of raw talent has to be able to adapt and reinvent to be able to succeed with what the market of the time expects. 1991 was a banner year for music videos from stars that have since moved on to bigger, better, and less horribly embarrassing things. They can try to bury their past behind them all they like, but fortunately, the Internet arrived, and now no one has to ever let them live down their early cracks at fame. Three examples stand out.

Robbie Williams (Take That) - Do What You Like (1991)

Many fans west of the Atlantic know Robbie Williams through his more recent successes, like Rock DJ, Millennium, and Feel (Real Love), but Robbie’s early fame was actually shared with his boyband compatriots in the legendary UK group Take That. Since the group’s breakup in ‘95 he has refused to take part in any reunion activities of any kind. Watch the video below, and take a glimpse into a past worth burying.

Mark Wahlberg (Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch) - Good Vibrations (1991)

Somehow, the man who appeared in the video below, brother of Donnie Wahlberg of New Kids on the Block, managed to salvage what has ended up being a respectable acting career, starring in films like The Italian Job, Shooter, and the upcoming Max Payne. Upon first seeing him on the big screen, I distinctly remember “whaaaaaaaaaaat…” thoughts going through my head. Good job, Marky Mark - I now actually enjoy your films. Now time to laugh at you.

Alanis Morrisette - Too Hot (1991)

To most, Alanis broke on the scene with her man-hating desert-running You Oughta Know, but those who’ve dug deeper or were paying attention to cheesy early 90s dance pop know that she’s actually got black and white choreographed group dance sequences under her belt, just like Marky Mark. With only moderate success, she changed up, added “Morrisette” to what was just “Alanis”, then hit the bigtime. Thankfully, you live, you learn.
